This blog is alive. Kind of.
So I’m holding down the fort for the holidays while everyone else went home. This’ll be my first Christmas alone, but that’s fine, we stopped celebrating it years ago anyway.
I figure what better time make myself a hermit by drinking chai, watching bad TV and letting the cat sleep on my face all day. And updating this blog/reviving it from the dead. I always feel kind of ...

Chloe Norgaard & Brooke Kao
I got to shoot with Chloe Norgaard from Photogenics yesterday, and had the shoot co-styled by Brooke Kao, a very cool fashion blogger (who once had a feature on Teen Vogue) who I finally managed to connect with during her various visits to LA. I also got to work with Dana Delaney for makeup again, who always works wonders.
This shoot was thrown together fast (probably a bit too fast), but went...

India, here I come
It’s now official, I’ll be spending Jan.17-Feb.14 in India with health and fitness writer Nancy Deville and a few others. After her book tour, we’re planning on traveling throughout the country, recording material for a small documentary. Since I’ll be acting as cinematographer, director and editor in this endeavor, it’s safe to say I’m damn excited. I’m...

shooting more bands
I haven’t posted in far too long, so thus here is what is new.
My friend Jess Newham, aka Betty Who, a very talented musician recently flew over to LA so that we could create some promo shots for her and her record deal in making. So keep your eyes open for those. I also recently made it back from yet another quick jaunt up to San Francisco to shoot Unknown Mortal Orchestra, a newcomer to...

Sonny & San Francisco
So this past weekend was spent in San Francisco, and this time it was me driving and us staying in a crazy orange hotel called the Vertigo, which happened to be one block down from our friends’ dorm. (Spiffy film photos will emerge once I have enough expendable money to process my damn negatives.)
(Shireen and Steve)
It basically started with a job offer to shoot Sonny Smith of...

big sur & lord huron
A few weeks ago I was asked to help shoot for This Is What We Imagine, a small video production group, filming a project called Two Stories, which involves getting together with emerging bands and shooting a live performance and an interesting story in an awesome location. I also helped with the first installment, which was shot on my first day in LA in Griffith Park (and included a Kevin Bacon...
Electric Nomad
At long last our much planned but still pretty chaotic shoot was finally shot. Granted, we ran out of time and only managed to shoot three of the six looks, but we’re planning a Part 2. Part 2 may or may not include live snakes. We shall see.
Either way, since the shoot isn’t done and we’re planning magazine submissions, I can’t post the images for a while, but here is a...

film film film
I’ve been shooting with a lot of film these days. Large format black and white film for one class, color slide film for another and color negative film on my lomo for the weekend, per say.

the next shoot
Designer/stylist/general art maker Scott Park and I have been running around LA like headless chickens as our upcoming collaboration shoot seems to get bigger and bigger. We’re planning on pulling garments from Comme des Garcons, Unholy Matrimony, Dary Miro, Junya Watanabe and a few others. Scott’s also making some pretty amazing accessory pieces. We just confirmed a model from Ford...
Updates
I’ve been living in LA for around 4 days now and I’ve been going non-stop! I was something like 5th camera for a small shoot in Griffith Park on day one, shot a secret Wavves show in Chinatown the day after, had dinner in a mansion in Beverly Hills yesterday. It’s been a good time.
I’m almost done with the official music video for Tropics’ single “Soft...

mixed media experiments
I’m in somewhat of a lull between preparing for future projects, so I decided to mess around with CS5 at long last. This is what resulted.

Offical Music Video
Not long after the completion of my T2i test footage, I was asked to shoot the official music video for Tropics’ “Soft Vision” to coincide with the release of his first album on Mu Records.
Tropics, also known as Chris Ward, is a UK artist who makes some pretty amazing, dreamy, “glo-fi” music and I’m pretty damn excited to get to make a legit music video for...

Testing the T2i/Catching stuff on fire
I had grand plans for my first T2i video. Plans involving camp fires and colored smoke. Unfortunately, the saltpeter (potassium nitrate) required for the homebrew smoke bomb recipe is harder to come by than I’d thought.
So we just did some random test shooting, mostly messing with fire and haze effects, with the intent of still shooting the main project sometime before I leave the greater...
what's up
This isn’t necessarily my main blog (I don’t really blog to begin with), but I figured this would be a good way to keep things updated for anyone who’s interested (personally or professionally).
As of now, I’m chilling in Boston and I’ll be heading up to the New York area in a week or so, where I’ll hopefully buy my new camera (the Canon 550D). After that,...
